The Lee House
Historical Overview
Standing close to the street at 198 Washington Road is a 2-story house with enclosed front porch. This - the Lee house - is a member of West Windsor's "100 Club" and a contributing element to the historic West Windsor community of Penns Neck.
According to township tax records, this house was constructed in 1912.[1] However, the Historical Society has not yet uncovered who built the house. The earliest confirmed owner (research is ongoing) was Mary Ann Cahill, who, in 1949, sold this property to Garfield and Juanita Pierson.[2] Garfield was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and worked at the McGuire Air Force Base as a management analyst for about 30 years.[3] In 1962, the couple sold the property to John and Catherine Somers,[4] but after John died the next year, Catherine quickly sold the property to Angelo and Carmella Arcaro.[5] In 1976, the Arcaros sold the property to Jack and Ida Lee.[6] The Lees owned the house until 2004, when it passed to new owners.[7]
