The Everett-Dey House

Historical Overview
Standing at 377 North Post Road, directly between a bend in that road and the Northeast Corridor train tracks, is a 2-story house. This structure - the Everett-Dey house - is a contributing element to the historic West Windsor community of Princeton Junction and is also a member of West Windsor's "100 Club."

Tax records assert that this building was constructed in 1907.
[1] It's unknown who owned the property at that time, but in 1915, Thomas C. Lucas sold it to Irving H. Everett.[2] Irving was a West Windsor "Overseer of the Highways" from 1908 to 1925, a "Poundkeeper" (animal control) from 1919 to 1928, and a Township Committeeman in the late 1920s/early 1920s.[3] He was also, at one point, a member of the West Windsor Board of Education.[4] The 1920 census shows Irving living with his wife, Laura B., as well as three daughters (Verna, Stella, and Beulah), four sons (David, Slmer, Russell, and Harold), and a sister-in-law (Catherine Sprague).[5]

Irving died in 1943,[6] but the property stayed in Everett hands until Laura's death in 1954.[7] The next year, the property was sold to Kenneth Dey Sr. and his wife, Ruth N. Dey.[8] They kept the property until 1990[9] - one year after Kenneth's death.[10] After this, the property passed to the Kiernans (1990-1995),[11],[12] the McClenahans (1995-2001),[13],[14] and other owners.
