Research & Archiving

Overview
Since its founding in 1983, the Historical Society of West Windsor has collected a trove of items dating back to the area's first settlers. Thousands of items - including manuscripts, Lene Lenape relics, colonial artifacts, maps, photographs, oral histories, newspapers, books, historical projects, clothing, audio files, and much, much more - lie housed in our archives at the Schenck Farmstead. However, until recently, these items have simply been stored at this location, lying hidden from the public.
The Historical Society is working hard to correct this. We are undertaking an effort to digitize the entirety of our archives. This effort will inevitably take months and require careful inspection of our most fragile and rare artifacts, but as a result of this effort, we hope to preserve West Windsor's history for generations to come.
