Oral Histories

Overview

West Windsor has evolved significantly, from a sleepy agrarian village hundreds of years ago to a diverse, active, busy commuter town of roughly 30,000 residents as of 2019. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, the Historical Society of West Windsor undertook a project to interview and record some of the township's longest-lived residents about their memories concerning the municipality. We have been working hard to digitize these archives, which are available below for viewing.

In 2019, we are undertaking a similar project to fill in the 30-year gap that spans in between the 1990s and the present day. This project, an attempt to capture the township's significant evolution, is twofold:
  1. To interview the township's longest-lived residents and memorialize their recollections of West Windsor as it existed during the middle of the 20th century.
  2. To interview residents who have moved into West Windsor during the past 30 years, learning about why they chose West Windsor and what the township means to them.

As interviews are recorded, they will be provided below.

If you would like to participate in this project - either as an interviewer or an interviewee -  please do not hesitate to contact us!
