Historical Overview
Pictured above is an old, 2-story house standing at 530 Village Road West. This building is a contributing structure to the historic community of Dutch Neck and a member of West Windsor's "100 Club."

Various records assert that this house was constructed between 1908 and 1920.[1],[2] Its first known owners were Lewis C. Bowers and his wife, Ada M. Bowers, in 1942.[3] Lewis was a contractor who whose building company - Lewis C. Bowers and Sons - constructed and demolished buildings in the West Windsor area for many decades, including Old Town Hall nearby. Lewis was also one of the founders of the long-gone Dutch Neck Y.M.C.A.[4]

In 1942, Ada sold this property to Lester and Evalinda Reed.[5] The Reeds also owned the historic 93-acre Slayback homestead farm next door.[6] Moreover, Lester also a member of the West Windsor Volunteer Fire Company and the New Jersey Farm Bureau.[7]

In 1996, the house passed to David G. Moomaw, one of Lester and Evlinda's grandsons.[8] He owned the property until 2003, when it finally left Reed-Moomaw hands after 61 years of ownership.[9] New owners have since then maintained the house as a familiar sight in Dutch Neck.
