Join the Historical Society of West Windsor, the Lawrence Historical Society, and the Delaware and Raritan Canal State Park for on a three-part tour of the historic community of "Port Mercer" - a 19th century hamlet that grew as a shipping and transportation hub around the Delaware & Raritan Canal.
We'll first walk the Canal, exploring its origins as a shipping corridor and present use as a state park. Then, we'll highlight Port Mercer, its historic buildings, and the families who shaped it over generations. Finally, we'll explore the Port Mercer Canal House, now a museum managed by the Lawrence Historical Society. The Canal and Port Mercer are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
